The MPO Transit Study is a transit needs study sponsored by the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The purpose of the study is to:
- Assess transit service needs in the context of mobility, economic vitality and quality of life;
- Develop cost a feasible plan to meet these needs; and
- Support decision-making during updates to planning documents
Over the next year, the MPO will work with the citizens, local governments, civic leaders, transportation agencies and technical experts to develop future scenarios for premium transit and supportive community design in our county.

Major Study Components:
- Investigate prior and present transit planning efforts
- Engage the public through outreach and participation activities
- Coordinate with local governments and transportation agencies
- Identify key sub-regional corridors
- Identify activity centers and regional connections
- Evaluate multiple transit scenarios
- Develop implementation strategies (e.g., phasing and funding)
- Inform updates to short and long range plans
